Wolfy went to live with my ex-husband when we divorced, but Wolfy returned home after thirty days.

Ex-husband Takes Wolfy, Johann, and Trigger

Divorce can have its tragedies. When my divorce was final and my ex-husband had to move out, he decided to take three of the seven cats with him without any discussion. You can read about the divorce at this link. https://healthyhomesteadingadventures.com/the-fight-for-the-homestead/

When he left, he took Trigger, which was his cat, and he took the two starving brothers that I had rescued, Wolfy and Johann. Wolfy had been a foster parent to the three younger kittens and was the alpha male. His brother Johann had gotten a disease called megacolon. An Unexpected Call

After about twenty-nine days, I got an unexpected call from my ex-husband. He wanted to know if I would like to have Wolfy and Johann back. I said that I would love to have the back, so he gave me directions to his place in Manton, California, where I would have to drive to get them.

He Changed His Mind

It was at least an hour drive to Manton. When I arrived, He told me that he had changed his mind and was only going to let me have Wolfy. He thought that Trigger needed to have a companion. He took the cats because it was too hard for him to leave his friends. That was understandable since he loved the cats as much as I did. But, how was he going to support three cats and deal with Johann’s medical bills? Was he giving Wolfy back because of financial reasons?

Toilet Training to Save Money

Trying to save money had motivated my ex-husband to try to train the three cats to use the toilet instead of the cat box. This training involved not changing the cat box to try to force them to use the toilet. The box was full of urine and feces. It was a sad memory for me to take home with me.

Wolfy and the Stick Tights

The reason he gave me for giving back Wolfy was that he was like a stick tight magnet. His fine hair collected the tiny burrs and held them fast, that is until he came back into the cabin. There were stick tights in the bed, on the couch, and all over the carpet. Now that this friend had become a nuisance, I could have him back. There are plenty of stick tights where I live and Wolfy gets into them, but I just deal with it and comb them out because I love my friend.

Wolfy Returns Home After Thirty Days

Wolfy left his cat family on August 3, 2015 and returned exactly one month later on September 3, 2015. He doesn’t like to travel in a car, so he did some meowing on the way home. I was curious to see how he would be received back by the other cats that remained at home with me. There was Pebbles, the matriarch, Columbus, Rory, and Kika. I don’t want to spoil your surprise, so I will let you watch the video that I took to document this event.
