I just love to have my time with God down by my creek. One morning,  I noticed that a female Merganser swam in close to listen.

What is a Merganser?

Mergansers are birds that are known as fish-eating ducks. They have long, narrow beaks and compared to a duck look kind of ugly. They are usually quite shy and will immediately flee when they see me coming. This behavior keeps them safe from predators.

Merganser Comes to Listen to Music

As I was singing by the creek, I heard a kwuck, kwuck, kwuck, sound. I don’t think they sound like a duck saying, “Quack, quack, quack.” I saw this female Merganser watching me and seeming to sing or kwuck along with me.

Usually, these birds are in groups, so I don’t know why this one was all alone. Maybe she was lonely. Maybe she actually liked my singing like the buck that I shared earlier. Check out these links if you missed me singing to him. Singing to a Deer and Buck Squats to Pee During Song

A Taste of Heaven

In Heaven and the New Earth, animals and birds will not be afraid of us. They will be so happy to come and listen to us sing. Whenever I am blessed to sing to the birds or animals in this dark world, I consider it just a taste of Heaven when they enjoy listening. I can’t say the same for my cats. When I start to sing, they give me the look and leave. My singing can’t be that bad. At least this Merganser liked it.

Watch the Video Proof

I wondered if anyone would believe me if I didn’t try to video this. I also thought it would encourage you all to sing to the wildlife in your area. So, I got my phone and just turned it on and made my way towards this normally shy bird. I thought it was going to fly away as it saw me walking closer. I started to sing “Shall we Gather at the River.” Then, I forgot the second verse, so sang “Amazing Grace.”

I was ready to end the video. Then for an encore, I remembered another verse of the first song. Finally, as I reached the end of the verse, the Merganser came to her senses and fled the scene. I hope you will enjoy this even though the video isn’t perfect.
