Moving into our two-story-high and 1000 square-foot metal building was like moving into a warehouse.  This was the beginning of our new life.

Arrival at Our Homestead

After a very long trip, we arrived at our homestead on Aug 8, 2012, with my husband, at the time, driving the U-Haul truck and pulling a trailer. I was driving the Tundra truck pulling a trailer of chickens. My Facebook album says that we arrived at 11:30 a.m. I know that I didn’t drive all night, so we must have stopped off at my children’s aunt and uncle’s place. Unfortunately, I have very little memory of it all after nine years.

Time to Move into our Metal Building

This was my first time to see the completed metal building. Gary moved the U-Haul close to the roll-up door of the metal building for moving all the stuff into the building. He said that we would have our bed in the far left part of the building and the children could have areas to the left of the building. But, they actually chose to sleep in the motorhome for a while until a loft was built.

Problem with Moving into a Metal Building

One major problem with moving into a metal building is the fact that it is just like a big warehouse. There is no place to put anything, therefore, almost everything has to stay inside boxes. We had some dressers in which to put the clothes and bookcases to put some books. Consequently, the rest would be in storage.

Today’s Video has a slide show of pictures of the metal building and how we filled it up with boxes and furniture. There are also some photos of the chickens checking out their new home. Please subscribe to my YouTube Channel if you haven’t already.
