In the process of making my trench for my hugelkultur bed on April 1, 2020, I sadly dug into a mouse hole and killed a mother mouse.  Later, I saw a young mouse run out from where I was digging with my John Deere tractor.  It ran across my driveway to hide in the weeds.  I was so glad that it made it out alive.  As I continued to dig, I saw another young mouse, probably the sibling.  It didn’t run.  It was frozen in time as it looked in terror up at the giant green monster and the human controlling it.  It brought to mind the look that the lost will have when Jesus appears in the clouds of heaven.

I quickly turned off the tractor and jumped down and picked up the terrified little mammal.  It seemed frozen from shock.  I didn’t see any injuries.  I placed it in a safe place amongst the weeds where its sibling ran.  I didn’t know if it would live or die.  I had to get back to work.  I checked on it often and it took perhaps 2 hours before it recovered enough to move.   I was so glad to see that it was going to make it.  I show in the following video that it could move a little and I was able to know it would be safe to be on its own.

I was having a little fun with the featured image and got that effect from sharpening the picture too much.  Below is a more normal picture of the mouse.  If you haven’t subscribed to my blog yet, you can do so by going to the home page and clicking on the subscribe button.  Subscribing is free for blogs and YouTube videos.  You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel.  Being subscribed notifies you when I put a new blog post or video.
