When packaging says 100% juice, have you ever been tricked into buying a product loaded with sugar? I do not want you to be fooled as I was.

100% Juice

I was in one of those moods to shop and see if I was missing out on something healthy in Costco. Walking down the refrigerated section, I saw a pretty purple bottle of Acai Juice. “Isn’t this juice supposed to be healthy?” I asked myself. “Yes. It is. Why didn’t I ever buy it before? Maybe because it cost $8.00. Today, it only costs $5.00. It says 100% juice, so this must be very healthy.” I put it right in my shopping cart.

Watch the Video

For those who can watch the video, I am going to post it now so you can watch it. For those who can’t watch the video, I will continue to write this out for you. Just so you know, I did a coconut oil and lemon treatment on my hair and had it covered with a bag. I covered all that with a hat. I was motivated to make the video and needed to do it when I had the time.

Organic Acai 100% Juice

The 100% Juice was Delicious

Now that I had my Acai Juice at home, I tasted it and found it to be quite delicious, I thought it may be a little tart since it was a berry, but it was pleasantly sweet. It was a perfect replacement for almond milk, and I put it on my cereal. I sure had been missing out on this delicious and healthy juice.

Burning Feet

It wasn’t long before I started having something strange happen to my feet. My feet started burning as if they were on fire. An internet search said that I either had spinal problems or I was becoming a diabetic. My back feels fine. What! Diabetic! That couldn’t be me. I don’t even eat sugar! My cereal is fruit juice sweetened and I use some dates or other dried fruit.

100% Juice Equals Sugar

After suffering from hot feet for a few days, I got the idea to look more closely at my bottle of Acai Berry Juice. To start with, I looked at the ingredients and saw that the 100% juice included the pulp. Shockingly, the second ingredient was organic cane sugar. But, 100% juice also included organic tapioca syrup, organic lime juice, less than 5% of organic flavor, organic sunflower lecithin, citric acid, and fruit and vegetable juice (for color).

100% Juice Like Clickbait

Do you ever get pulled into watching a video because the thumbnail or title says something that interests you only to find out that the video was not about that at all? It was just clickbait to get you to click on it and watch it. This is the same thing that was used to get me to buy this juice. It was advertised on the label as 100% juice. I despise being lied to. Actually, I was believing that I bought a healthy product when it had ingredients that are not healthful like sugar and citric acid.

Acai Nutrition Facts

100% Juice Equals Sugar

So, how much sugar was actually added to this Acai juice that was pretending to be 100% juice? If you look at the above picture, you will see that in 8 fluid ounces of this concoction, there are 24 grams of added sugar. I stopped buying soy yogurt because it had 20 grams of sugar. At least it didn’t claim to be plain yogurt. This much sugar can cause problems with the immune system because sugar weakens the white blood cells. It doesn’t matter if the sugar is organic or from cane juice. The important lesson here is to always read the whole label.

What Should I Do With It?

This juice cost me $5.00. What should I do with it, and what would you do? Should I just dilute it so that I don’t get so much sugar at a time? Actually, I had already made a decision not to eat products that contained sugar, so I decided to just pour it out on the ground. When you find out that something is not good for you to be eating, don’t think that you must first eat up what you have. Throw it away. In the video, I showed myself pouring the corrupted juice on the ground. It strengthens willpower when we act immediately on our convictions.

Conclusion

We need to choose wisely what we put in our mouths. Always read the labels and do your research and know what every ingredient is and find out if it is healthful. I want all my food to be 100% healthy for God wants me to “prosper and be in health.”
